This type of therapy has been used since the 1970’s on performance horses. The Bio-Pulse Magnetic Blanket applies a magnetic field to the cell. This sends a weak electrical signal, influencing the exchange of potassium and sodium ions on either side of the cell membrane, increasing the cellular oxygen level. Ions are electrically charged particles in the cell that affect the metabolism (the way the cell work). The Bio-Pulse Magnetic Blanket also enhances the synthesis of protein in the cells thus taking advantage of all the protein available for their nutrient intake. This blanket improves circulation by opening and dilating arteries and capillaries. The Bio-Magnetic Blanket increases the oxygen particle pressure by an average of 200% within thirty minutes of starting treatment. Increasing the oxygen particle pressure can suppress pain associated with the lack of sufficient oxygen in the cells. Insufficient oxygen in the cells can cause lactic acid build up in the muscle tissue which in turn causes soreness and fatigue.
The strength of the magnetic field is determined by the size and composition of the magnet and also determines the depth of penetration. The Bio-Pulse Magnet Blanket battery pulses electrical current through its ten coils located at strategic positions on the horse. This turns each coil into a large pulsing magnet. The pulsing can be felt up to 15 inches away from the coil by holding a test magnet in your hand.
The Whitesboro Equine Therapy facility has developed a fantastic physical therapy program by combining the benefits of the Aqua-Tred and the Bio-Pulse Magnetic Blanket. This program allows for a speedy recovery for many common problems found in the equine athlete solving the problem of the hard to handle horse recovering from an injury. The horse can exercise and burn up built up energy without re-injuring himself or the person that may have to walk him. It is also a great way to recondition an animal with less stress on its body. Jeff Petska has had strong ties in the horse industry for many years. Jeff grew up in Nebraska where he became involved in the equine industry on the college rodeo team at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He then started with performance horses at the Pitzer Ranch in Nebraska. His career continued under the employment of Carol Rose from 1990 to 1996. In 1997 he started his own business at his facility in Whitesboro. Today Jeff Petska is known for his many accomplishments in Reining as a multiple NRHA Futurity finalist, the SWRHA Ltd.Open Futurity championship and numerous other titles.
